Madonna is set to release new music on Friday (17 April) and is expected to share details of her 15th studio album at the same time.

The project will mark her first record since 2019’s Madame X, making it the longest gap between studio albums in her career.

According to reports, the singer has been working on the album with producer Stuart Price, who previously collaborated with her on 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.

“This album has been such a passion project for Madonna” – a source on Confessions II

“Madonna is ready to enter her new era and, on Friday, fans will finally get a taste of what she has been working on with Stuart Price,” a source told The Sun.

“This album has been such a passion project for Madonna. It’s taken her to a different level in her artistry and she is excited for her fans to hear what she has been working on.

“Madonna has been through so much in the past few years. She almost died in 2023 after contracting sepsis and she lost her brother Christopher the following year.

A new music video includes Kate Moss, Gwendoline Christie and Benedict Cumberbatch

“The album will be steeped in reflections of what she has endured and how she has overcome everything thrown in her path.”

In September, Madonna confirmed her sepsis diagnosis for the first time since a life-threatening bacterial infection left her hospitalised in 2023.

A new music video linked to the project has also been filmed in London. Kate Moss, Gwendoline Christie and Benedict Cumberbatch were among those involved in filming at Black Island Studios in West London.

Ahead of the release, Madonna wiped her Instagram grid

One sequence features a staged car crash involving a stunt performer, followed by scenes set at a rave.

Ahead of the release, Madonna wiped her Instagram grid and changed her profile image to a blurred portrait.

Her bio now reads, “Time goes by so slowly…,” in reference to COADF’s lead single, ‘Hung Up’.

Madonna’s official website has also been updated, now featuring “Confessions II” branding. The upcoming record will be the superstar’s first studio album since Madame X in 2019, marking the longest gap between albums in her career.
