Former Big Brother housemate George Gilbert may face misconduct action by Finchingfield Parish Council.

Gilbert was removed from the Big Brother house with immediate effect last week following what producers described as “unacceptable language and behaviour.”

He was shown on the programme upsetting housemate Sam – who is queer and identifies as he/they/she – after offensively mimicking them during a game of spin the bottle.

“Unacceptable language and behaviour” – Big Brother on George Gilbert being booted off the show

Big Brother spokesperson confirmed the decision, adding that the parish councillor will not return to the ITV reality show.

“Following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour, George has been removed from the Big Brother house with immediate effect and will no longer participate in the programme,” the statement read.

Gilbert, who serves on Finchingfield Parish Council in Essex, may now face misconduct action following complaints from residents about his behaviour on the show.

Speaking to the BBC, the council has consulted a monitoring officer at Braintree District Council for advice on possible disciplinary steps.

Some members of the public have described Gilbert’s views as “awful” in emails to the council.

“Gender ideology is being forced on vulnerable minds, like children” – George on gender identity

ITV confirmed that certain remarks made by Gilbert were not aired because they breached broadcast standards. The comments that were broadcast included mocking gestures and remarks about gay relationships and drug addicts.

During a discussion with housemate Sam, George spoke on identity, he said that: “Gender ideology is being forced on vulnerable minds, like children.”

Reacting to his removal, Gilbert said he was “sorry it’s ended like this.” The majority of housemates appeared happy to see him go, although Carline Monk remarked, “I don’t fit in.”

Tune in to Big Brother tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
