Jonathan Bailey sent a bouquet of flowers to Dancing with the Stars contestant Robert Irwin after last week’s Wicked-themed dance, where he played Fiyero.
Viewers were transported to Oz for Wicked night on the celebrity dancing competition on Tuesday (21 October), where Irwin and partner Witney Carson performed a jazz to ‘Dancing Through Life’ by Bailey.
The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist shared a video on his social media on Friday, in which Carson walked into rehearsals holding a large bouquet of flowers addressed to him.
“Do you have a secret admirer that I don’t know about?” – Robert Irwin’s dancing partner Witney Carson on Jonathan Bailey’s surprise gift
“Who are these from?” he asks. “Oh my goodness, they’re gorgeous,” the professional dancer quipped. “Do you have a secret admirer that I don’t know about?”
Jumping up and down with excitement, the 21-year-old said: “It’s from Jonathan Bailey,” reading the note. He said: “You are the shiz, Robert. You’ve done all the Fiyeros proud. Cheering you on from afar. Big love, JB.”
“This has made my day! Thank you so much, Jonathan!” Irwin said. The pair landed near the top of the leaderboard, starring as Fiyero and Glinda, scoring 35 out of 40 points from the judges.
“Robert Irwin robbed again – like that was literally Jonathan Bailey” – fan on wanting Irwin to score the series first 10
Though viewers were furious that the pair didn’t receive at least one 10 on the scoreboard, one user commented, “Robert Irwin robbed again – like that was literally Jonathan Bailey.” Another added: “‘Robert deserved the first 10 of the season.'”
In the intro package ahead of the performance earlier this week, Irwin revealed that he is such a big Wicked fan that he rented out a theatre to watch the film for his 21st birthday last December.
Wicked Night scored 6.63 million total viewers, the largest audience of the season, marking the fifth consecutive week of growth for the series.
Irwin, despite being the victim of a cruel fake AI post last week claiming he refused an LGBTQ+ pin at a supposed environmental gala in Sydney, continued to go from strength to strength.
Irwin’s next dance on Dancing with the Stars has not yet been announced, but if it is anything like his musical tribute, it is bound to be ‘Popular’…
