A teenager was kicked, punched and stamped on after a 10-strong gang hurled homophobic abuse at his friend.

Jack Roberts, 17, was walking with his girlfriend and four others in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, when a gang started hurling homophobic abuse towards them.

The young business apprentice stuck up for the teenager who was the target of the abuse and confronted the gang but they started to attack him.

According to the Sheffield Star, Jack was kicked, stamped on and punched with a knuckle duster during the attack.

He was left with a number of footprint marks over his body and one of his head. He was taken to hospital but later discharged.

His mother, Jodie Roberts, shared images of the attack on social media.
