A man was fired from his job just hours after being offered it after a “drunk, homophobic rant”.
Danny Crook reportedly shouted and screamed at patrons of Mango Thai Tapas Bar & Lounge in Southampton while he was celebrating being given a job at the establishment, according to the Daily Echo.
When he was told to go home, police were called to the night club to restrain the 26 year old who was vomiting and proceeded to turn on officers including PC Bartosz Tluchowski.
The following morning, he was released from custody and was forced to go back to nightclub to pick up his coat where he was told that his employment offer had been withdrawn.
Prosecutor Natalie Angel told Southampton Magistrates’ Court: “Colleagues had originally tried to take him home because of how intoxicated he was. They believe it made him vulnerable.
“But in the end, officers were called because the defendant was causing distress in the way he was acting.
“He started shouting and screaming, calling everyone homophobic names. Officers grabbed him and restrained him but he was kicking the air and struck PC Tluchowski.”
The court also heard Crook had previous convictions for common assault and actual bodily harm in 2015.
Despite his employment offer being withdrawn, Crook has since got a new job and pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words and assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty.
He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £100 compensation as well as costs of £85 and a victim surcharge.
