Katie Hopkins slammed over remarks about CBB star: ‘Don’t ask me to call a castrated man a woman’

As trans newsreader India Willoughby entered the house, Hopkins took to Twitter to voice her opinion

Katie Hopkins has come under fire for making a series of anti-trans tweets.

The former Daily Mail columnist denied she’s transphobic after writing the controversial tweets which were aimed at Celebrity Big Brother star India Willoughby.

India, who became Britain’s first transgender newsreader in 2016, entered the house during last night’s launch as the reality show celebrated the “year of the woman” by having an all-female house.

However, Hopkins disagreed with the celebration and took to Twitter to voice her abhorrent opinions.

In one tweet, Hopkins wrote: “Lessons from empowering all-female #CBB line up; 1) women need time on a chair before going through a door 2) strong women are very s*** at finding the only door to a pretend house 3) you can chop the dick off a man, but don’t end up with a woman #CBBUK.”

Following the tweet, social media users attacked Hopkins for making a transphobic comment and then, instead of apologising for the original tweet, the former Daily Mail columnist denied she was transphobic.

She wrote: “I am not transphobic. Live your life how you damn well please. Just don’t ask me to call a castrated man a woman #CBBUK”.

She caused further backlash after tweeting: “A man who castrates his penis is not a women. Just as a cat with no legs is not a slug. #CBBUK”.

The tweet spurred RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tatianna to comment: “You are an awful person. Truly disgusting and vile. It’s unfortunate that you have the platform that you do.”

Celebrity Big Brother continues at 9pm on Channel 5.
