‘It’s like being in prison except it’s in your own body’: Transgender twins open up about transitioning together
Jack and Jace Grafe confided in each other when they were 15 that they were transgender

A pair of identical transgender twins have recalled their story of how their transitioned together.
Jack and Jace Grafe, from Georgia, US, were raised in a small town and both attended a private Christian school but when they turned 15, they both confided in each other that they were transgender.
In an interview with Fox5 Atlanta, Jack said: “It’s like being in prison except it’s in your own body. And the older I got, the harder it was to swallow.
“And I was like, ‘I can’t do this for the rest of my life, I just can’t do it’. Fear is like the biggest thing to keep you away from anything.
“That’s what kept me in my box.”
Jace added: “With him there, we had each other’s back. We looked out for each other. I feel like we’ve saved each other from a lot of really dark and depressing moments.
“Sometimes, I wonder if he wasn’t here, if I would have been by myself, if I would have had suicidal thoughts.
“I’m not saying I would have, but it’s very possible. I would have been most definitely alone.”
When the twins left school, they both decided to live the life that they wanted to and they have both legally changed their genders in Georgia.
“But as soon as I got out of there, I cut my hair and I changed my clothes,” Jace continued.
“I’m just excited to finally go out there and be exactly what I’ve been dreaming about for a long time.”
