Ellen Page says ‘f**k that’ after Queen honours anti-gay politician

Ellen Page has criticised the Queen for handing a New Year’s honour to an anti-gay politician.

Northern Irish politician Maurice Mills was awarded an MBE last week, despite blaming Hurricane Katrina on Louisiana’s support of LGBT rights in 2005.

It was also reported that Mills – who is a Democratic Unionist Party councillor for Ballymena – once described HIV as the result of the “filthy practice of sodomy”.

Speaking about Hurricane Katrina in 2005, he said: “The media failed to report that the hurricane occurred just two days prior to the annual homosexual event called the Southern Decadence festival which the previous year had attracted an estimated 125,000 people.

“Surely this is a warning to nations where such wickedness is increasingly promoted and practiced.”

After hearing about Mills’ remarks, Page posted the following tweet:
