Bradford Bulls rugby club offer stadium to help save city’s gay pride

Bradford Bulls rugby club have potentially saved the city’s annual gay pride by offering their venue for the event.
Pride had been due to take place in City Park on May 28, but organisers announced they had to cancel it on account of financial difficult and a failure to agree licensing arrangements.
According to the BBC, Anne Morgan, who recently resigned from her role as chairman of Bradford Pride Committee, said, “We couldn’t even get a trades license to serve ice cream, and they wanted us to put up extra barriers and have stewards on every exit.”
Now, local rugby team the Bradford Bulls have offered their Odsal Stadium – which is owned by Bradford City Council – as an alternative venue. This came after the intervention of local business leaders, and the team’s generosity surprised Pride organisers.
Bradford Pride attracted 10,000 people last year, and now looks set to go ahead as planned, in its new venue.
