If you’ve ever done Madrid Pride (MADO) without a plan, you’ll know how quickly it gets away from you. MADO draws over two million people to the Spanish capital across 10 days each summer, and working out where to be, when, and how to get there while the city is at full tilt is its own project.

Thankfully, Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid has essentially done that work for you.

The hotel sits in Chamberí – one of Madrid’s most residential and well-connected neighbourhoods – and is a five-minute walk from Chueca, the city’s historic LGBTQ+ quarter and the beating heart of MADO.

For MADO 2026, Avani has gone further, building a full Pride programme in partnership with Love Rights Global Organization that covers everything from what’s waiting in your room to where you’ll be when the floats start moving.

What that means is a VIP-level experience designed for an international LGBTQ+ audience that wants more than a well-located bed and a rainbow flag in the window. You’ll get access to the parade itself, a curated pre-event, an official after party, and someone else having handled the logistics. All you need to do is turn up and have the best time.

What’s the hotel like?

The four-star Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid occupies a recently renovated building dating back to 1919, with 101 rooms decorated with Madrid references throughout – think houndstooth bedspreads nodding to the chulapos, cat-motif headboards and lampshades printed with old city-centre maps.

Its breakfast buffet includes churros with hot chocolate – the correct way to start a Pride day in Madrid. There’s an all-day deli in the lobby for when you need something quick between events, and the AvaniFit gym for when you don’t.

The hotel is soundproofed and air-conditioned throughout, which matters when the city outside will be operating at full volume for 10 days straight…

What does the programme include?

The main parade runs on Saturday 4 July from Atocha to Plaza de Colón, and Avani Hotels and Resorts will have its own float in it. A select group of guests will be invited to join the parade from within the float – which, if you’ve watched MADO from the sidelines before, is worth getting excited about.

Before the march, invited guests and press gather at the Teatro Magno terrace for a pre-parade social that doubles as an accreditation point. You arrive knowing where you need to be and when, with the rest of the day already mapped out.

Afterwards, the official after party moves to Marta Cariño, one of Madrid’s go-to nightlife venues during Pride week.

What’s included in the stay?

Pride-themed in-room amenities developed with Schweppes are waiting when you check in, so the experience starts before you’ve even left the hotel. The whole programme connects to Avani’s All Pride, No Pause platform – the brand’s year-round commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusive travel.
