Vanessa Williams to be replaced by Desperate Housewives co-star in The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical
She will begin performances at the Dominion Theatre on 20 October 2026, following Williams’ final curtain on 19 September

Teri Hatcher will take over from Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical in London’s West End.
She will begin performances at the Dominion Theatre on 20 October 2026, following Williams’ final curtain on 19 September, and is scheduled to perform until 6 February 2027.
In the meantime, stand-by Miranda Priestly Debbie Kurup will step into the role of Runway’s editor-in-chief from Williams’ departure until 17 October.
Matt Henry will remain as Nigel, with the rest of the updated cast still to be announced.
Who is Teri Hatcher?
Hatcher is best known for Desperate Housewives and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Her musical theatre credits include Sally Bowles in Cabaret and Morticia Addams in The Addams Family. She and Vanessa Williams are also Desperate Housewives co-stars, having both starred in the hit series during its later seasons.
This marks the first time the role of Miranda Priestly has been handed over from Williams since the production opened in 2024. The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical is approaching its 800th performance on 23 September and has sold more than 1.2 million tickets to date.
The principal cast currently includes Williams as Miranda Priestly, Stevie Doc as Andy Sachs, Taila Halford as Emily Charlton, Keelan McAuley as Nate and Debbie Kurup as stand-by Miranda.
A four star review
Attitude reviewed the production earlier this year, rating it four out of five stars and describing it as “camp, hilariously witty, and effortlessly seamless”.
The original production starred Georgie Buckland as Andy Sachs and Amy Di Bartolomeo as Emily Charlton, its two leading ladies.
The production premiered at Theatre Royal Plymouth, running from 6 July to 17 August 2024, before transferring to London.
