Hollywood’s Jake Picking and fashion trailblazer Dexter Mayfield lead the Attitude August issue

Two stars ready to make waves grace the cover of this month's issue, out now to download and to order globally.

The Attitude August issue is here, and as the most politically-charged Pride season in years continues apace, we’re back with another issue celebrating the length and breadth of the LGBTQ community and its allies – and which you can download and order globally now.

As Rock Hudson in Ryan Murphy’s revisionist Netflix series Hollywood, Jake Picking breathed new life into a gay screen legend, delivering a performance which has received plenty of buzz ahead of this years Emmy Awards.

As he poses for an exclusive cover shoot, the fast-rising star sits down for an in-depth conversation with Rock’s friend and fellow icon Sharon Stone to discuss the ongoing trappings of the Tinseltown dream.

Also gracing this month’s cover is fashion trailblazer Dexter Mayfield: Ever since he strutted his stuff down the LA Fashion Week runway, the actor, model and dancer has been smashing down barriers in the world of fashion and entertainment – but don’t think he’s stopping there.

Inside, Dexter gets real about the policing of Black bodies, demanding a seat at the table, and how the most powerful antidote to toxic vibes is owning every facet of your fabulous self.

Elsewhere in the Attitude August issue, music legend Rufus Wainwright tells us why he’s returning to pop, and how revisiting his past has helped him find happiness.

As Black Trans Lives Matter and the Gay Liberation Front take centre stage over commercialisation and clubbing this Pride season, we examine how Pride is returning to its protest roots in its 50th anniversary year.

Former BBC Radio 1Xtra host and new author Ashley ‘Dotty’ Charles cuts through the virtual noise to discuss how we should channel our anger online.

Juno Dawson, the UK’s foremost trans author, speaks to Shon Faye about her fears that the UK is taking a step back from LGBTQ acceptance, the controversy around JK
Rowling’s transphobia, and why the trans community needs its gay allies.

The plot thickens as book reviewer and writer Luke Marlowe turns over a new leaf to become more open, body-positive and, in this instance, naked…

Ahead of a documentary charting their extraordinary journey, director and writer Jake Graf opens up about the difficult but rewarding road to becoming a parent with his wife, Captain Hannah Graf.

From Tangier to Thailand, presenter and author Calum McSwiggan reveals how travel has opened his eyes to the rich queer culture spanning the world…

In a special report, we meet trans women in Mexico City suffering from ‘modelants disease’ – the devastating result of injecting oils and silicones into their bodies to achieve feminine curves.

Plus, in a swimwear and underwear fashion special, our favourite models show a bit of self(ie)-love with self-shot portraits from lockdown.

That’s alongside all your usual news, reviews and opinion, of course…
