Turning Point USA has announced plans to stage a right-wing “All-American Halftime Show” after Bad Bunny was confirmed as the official Super Bowl halftime performer.

The conservative organisation, co-founded by the late Charlie Kirk, is putting together the alternative music event in opposition to Bad Bunny, a Spanish-language performer, outspoken LGBTQ+ ally, and artist known for his gender-nonconforming style.

Bad Bunny has also been rumoured to wear a dress to the Super Bowl halftime show on 8 February at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, causing controversy among far-right political groups.

“I think it’s absolutely ridiculous” – Donald Trump on Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl

Conservatives and Trump administration figures criticised the NFL after Bad Bunny was announced, with officials making inflammatory comments, including president Donald Trump himself.

After the Puerto Rican star was confirmed to perform at the American football game in September 2025, Trump said he had never heard of him.

Trump said on Newsmax: “I’ve never heard of him, I don’t know who he is… I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy.”

He added: “And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Turning Point USA emphases they will play music “in English”, taking aim at Bad Bunny

TPUSA announced its competing show in October, positioning it as a more “American” alternative, with early statements, as noted by Variety, emphasised they will play music “in English”.

The organisation, led by Kirk, who repeatedly attacked transgender identities, has also been associated with homophobic slurs and offensive language about Pride events.

The event has yet to announce confirmed performers, the venue, ticket availability, or whether it will be broadcast on TV (currently, only right-wing streaming platforms are listed).

“It’s an achievement of everyone” – Bad Bunny on performing at the Super Bowl

Bad Bunny has mocked the backlash, notably joking on Saturday Night Live that critics have “four months to learn” Spanish.

He said the performance would be for: “all Latinos and Latinas across the world, and here in the United States, all the people who have worked to open doors… More than an achievement of mine, it’s an achievement of everyone.”

Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” and the official Super Bowl halftime show will take place on 8 February 2026. Viewers will be able to watch the game via Peacock, Fubo TV or NBC.
