An American woman has been arrested for failing to return a VHS of Monster-in-Law in time.

Kayla Michelle Finley was arrested on Thursday (February 13) for not returning the VHS to a rental store in Pickens County, South Carolina when it was due – in 2005.

In the eight years since she took out the video, the rental store has gone out of business, but Finley was at the county sheriff’s office on another matter when an active arrest warrant was discovered,  WYFF-4 reports.

Finley had to spend the night in jail before her hearing the next day, and was then released by a judge on $2,000 (£1200) bail.

Monster-in-Law starring Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda – in her first film role in 15 years – was a commercial success when it was released back in 2005, grossing over $150 million (£90 million) at the box office worldwide.
