The Top 10 Dance Tunes of the ’90s

By Umar Sarwar

To celebrate Sink the Pink’s next ball at the Troxy in east London this Saturday (June 11), they’ve decided to have a bit of a throwback.

Take a look below and travel back to the ’90s with Sink The Pink’s Glyn Fussell and their top 10 dance tunes of the decade…

10) Todd Terry – ‘Keep on Jumpin’

This reminds us of time we escaped the family apartment in Ibiza when I was 17 and bused it to Manumission.

9) Alex Party – ‘Don’t Give Me Your Life’

We fingered a girl at Ritzy in Bristol to this once when we was younger. That’s all!

8) Artful Dodger – ‘Re-Rewind’

Okay, so technically this was released in 2000, but we’ve always been a total garage queen and our inner Kent G girl will always be released when we hear this.

7) Gala – ‘Freed From Desire’

This is such a Sink the Pink anthem. To this day we’ve absolutely no idea what the words are, but it gets the crowd rancid!

6) Corona – ‘Baby Baby’

We love Corona: We booked her a while ago and she is a total drag queen. She is about 85 and looks 21.

5) Grace – ‘Not Over Yet’

There are some beautiful ’90s tracks that got lost in the ‘novelty’ of the ’90s, and this is one of them. We LOVE this. The Klaxons version is great too, obv.

4) Strike – ‘U Sure Do’

Another one we have always played at Sink The Pink. FACT: We once saw Sophie Ellis-Bextor lose it when we played this.

3) Gala – ‘Freed From Desire’

We’re putting this one in twice because we need another opportunity to work out what the words are.

2) Rozalla – ‘Everybody’s Free’

God Rozalla is practically a permanent feature at our club, we have booked her so many time. She is amazing and has a gift that comes with being a singer from the 90’s – she gets younger! Who said Ecstasy was bad for ya, eh?

1) Ultra Nate – ‘Free’

We’ve have loved this song forever – it’s that track everyone knows and gores nuts to. We can’t wait for her to be blasting it to all out nut-bags at the next ball!

Sink The Pink’s next ball takes place this Saturday (June 11) at the Troxy. For more information check out sinkthepink.co.uk.
