Ryan Reynolds wants Deadpool to have a boyfriend in upcoming sequel

By Samuel McManus

Ahead of tomorrow’s Golden Globes, Ryan Reynolds has opened up about his love for Deadpool and how he wants the character to have a boyfriend in the upcoming sequel.

Speaking to Variety, Reynolds, who was nominated as best actor for his role in the Marvel film, spoke about what was next for the bad-mouthed mercenary.

“The budget is going to be phenomenally bigger,” Reynolds states.

According to the actor, anything could happen in the sequel, including a new romantic interest.

“What love is to Deadpool may not be what love is to Batman or someone else. I think that could be played up more. He’s an outsider in every way, shape and form.”

He adds, “I would love to play Deadpool for as long as they want me to play Deadpool. We have outlines and stories for a number of different films.”

Deadpool identifies as pansexual and Marvel’s inclusion of LGBT+ characters and narratives has sparked a new movement in comic book movies.

The sequel to the acclaimed Deadpool is set for a release in 2018 and we can’t wait to find out more.
