Ryan Murphy reveals what to expect from American Horror Story season 13: Title, characters, Coven and more
Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson have been confirmed to reprise several of their American Horror Story characters

Ryan Murphy has shared in detail what fans can expect from American Horror Story season 13, including the title, returning characters and how it relates to Coven.
The award-winning screenwriter spoke with Entertainment Tonight, where he revealed that, despite fans expecting a Coven sequel, it is not one.
“It’s all the seasons,” said Murphy. American Horror Story season 13 will see fan favourites return, including actresses Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson.
Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson confirmed for American Horror Story season 13
Lange was the first to be unveiled in the BTS images, appearing in a blue dress and a blonde updo resembling her American Horror Story season 1 character, Constance Langdon.
Paulson was the second confirmed star to return, reprising her iconic role as the Supreme, Cordelia Goode, from season 3, Coven.
However, following Murphy’s recent interview, it has now been confirmed that both actresses will take on several of their previous roles.
Who will Lange and Paulson play in American Horror Story season 13?
Lange will return as Langdon from season 1 (Murder House) and season 8 (Apocalypse); Sister Jude from season 2 (Asylum); Fiona Goode from season 3 (Coven); and Elsa Mars from season 4 (Freak Show).
Paulson’s roles have not yet been fully revealed. Aside from her Coven character, Murphy confirmed that she will play six or seven roles.
American Horror Story regular Evan Peters was confirmed to play five characters, whilst Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett will also portray multiple roles.
What is AHS season 13 about?
The plot is simple: “They all come together to defeat the ultimate evil.” To mark the show’s 13th season, American Horror Story season 13 will feature 13 episodes.
Murphy also revealed the official title of the season: 13, arriving on FX and Hulu on 24 September 2026.
Paul Anthony Kelly has also been confirmed to appear in the season, though his character has yet to be announced.
