As the world waits for the follow-up to 2015’s Rebel Heart, Madonna has made an unexpected feature appearance on a new track from US rapper Quavo.

The musical superstar, who has rarely lent her voice to other artists’ work during her 35-year career, features alongside Cardi B on ‘Champagne Rosé, from Quavo’s debut album QUAVO HUNCHO.

The track sees Madonna chant over a slinky hip-hop beat: “Drink me up, Champagne Rosé. It’s my game”.

She also take the lead on a solo verse as she delcares: “It’s my game / Please let me entertain you / Get inside your vein, too / Intoxicate your brain / Crazy what I make you / I’ll take you for a ride / Turn you up inside/ There’s nothng you can hide.”

It’s an unexpected moment from Madonna, who has been working on material for her 14th studio album in Lisbon, Portugal.

With the iconic entertainer rumoured to be working on a variety of new sounds for the new record, could this latest offering be an indication of where she’s headed next?

One thing’s for sure, as she enters her 60s, the queen of reinvention is showing no signs of reneging on her risk-taking image.
