Lily Allen interviews Dolly Parton ahead of Glastonbury

Lily Allen has interviewed Dolly Parton ahead of their performances at Glastonbury this week (June 25-29).
The pair discussed modern feminism and Miley Cyrus as well as their performances at the Worthy Farm Festival in the interview for the latest issue of Radio Times.
After saying she thought Dolly’s goddaughter Miley Cyrus was “fantastic,” Lily told the country legend that she’d been to the festival every year since she was six weeks old, to which Dolly replied: “I’ve heard that people from all walks of life come to Glastonbury. I guess they smoke a lot of dope and drink a lot of booze, like most festivals, right?”
The 68-year-old added: “What should I expect? Mud? I’ll be wearing my heels, even if I’m up to my knees in mud. I’m a little bit apprehensive. I’m excited, I just want to make sure I do the right show. I’ve heard of Glastonbury because it’s one of the biggest in the world right?
“For years, everybody’s asked me why I’ve never done it, and I guess it’s never worked out where I could, and so now I am.”
Dolly also said that women had made “great strides” in society since she starred alongside Jane Fonda in 1980 film 9 to 5, in which three women take on their sexist boss.
“Women have got a long way to go, but I really think we’ve made a lot of great strides since Jane Fonda starred in 9 to 5,” she said.
“I felt I was part of a whole new movement, especially in the workplace. There are a lot of wonderful women out there doing a lot of wonderful things.”
It was revealed earlier this week (June 19) that a series of ‘Dolly flash mobs‘ have been planned at Glastonbury, with revellers encouraged to learn choreography and break into a dance routine whenever the singer’s classic 1973 hit Jolene is played over the course of the weekend.
Lily Allen will be performing on the Pyramid Stage at 6.30pm on Friday (June 27) , while Dolly Parton will take to the Pyramid Stage on Sunday (June 29) at 4.20pm – the so-called ‘legend’ slot.
Glastonbury 2014 will be headlined by Arcade Fire, Metallica and Kasabian, and also includes performances from Lana Del Rey, Blondie and Lily Allen. Tickets for the event are now sold out, but festival coverage will be provided across the weekend on Radio 1 & 1Xtra, 6Music, BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four.
