Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star Is Born’ pushed back five months
Warner Bros. have moved the musical drama's release date again
Lady Gaga’s upcoming A Star Is Born has been pushed back almost five months.
Previously set for a May 18 release, the film has now been pushed back to October 5 by Warner Bros for awards season consideration, Variety reports.
Based on William-Wellman’s 1987 movie of the same name which starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, A Star Is Born tells the story of a fading movie star who helps an aspiring actress while his own career spirals downwards.
The 2018 version will see ‘Perfect Illusion’ singer and former American Horror Story star Lady Gaga as aspiring actress Ally and Bradley Cooper as fading actor Jackson Maine.
Cooper also serves as director for the film and came on board after his work with Clint Eastwood on American Sniper.
Eastwood had reportedly tried getting the musical drama made for years with Cooper before he reportedly dropped out, leaving the actor to take over as his first directing job.
Lady Gaga, who recently announced a two-year Vegas residency, previously gave fans a first look at the film after sharing a photo on Instagram alongside a caption thanking Cooper for the role.
Warner Bros had originally planned to release A Star Is Born on September 28 before announcing in November that they had moved the date forward to May 18.
The 2018 adaptation will be the third remake as James Mason and Judy Garland starred in a 1954 version and Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson headlined the 1976 movie.
