A Kickstarter campaign is currently running to fund a special 20th anniversary edition of 1995’s unofficial ‘ultimate Madonna guide’ Encyclopedia Madonnica.

Originally published by Boy Culture author and Madonna fan Matthew Rettenmund, the original Encyclopedia Madonnica was an exhaustive 200-page A-Z on the life and career of Madonna, which Matthew hopes to add to significantly in the new edition.

“As a fan of Madonna and as the owner of a massive archive of magazines, clippings and “Madonnabilia,” I felt compelled to document the incredible phenomenon of the girl from Bay City who in her first 13 years on the pop scene had become one of the greatest music icons (and one of the most controversial public figures) of all time,” says Rettenmund on the campaign’s Kickstarter page.

“Over the years, I’ve received so many notes from readers asking for an update that I finally decided it was time for a complete overhaul…and I want to publish it on my own terms—by a fan, for fans—on the 20th anniversary of the first book’s publication.

“I have an enormous wealth of information to add to an updated edition and countless unseen photos.

“With your generous donations, I plan to create a sequel that will not only live up to the high expectations created by the first book, but will surpass it in scope, humor, imagery and design.”
