Exclusive: Troye Sivan opens up about his relationship with model Jacob Bixenman

"This is probably the most I've ever spoken about it."

By Will Stroude

As a decidedly modern pop singer who rose to fame on YouTube, Troye Sivan is used to sharing his life with his legions of fans and followers – but when it comes to his relationship, however, the story is a little bit different.

As 22-year-old Troye embarks on his “grimy, sexy” new musicial era however, the Aussie star has offered a rare insight into life with his boyfriend of two years, US model Jacob Bixenman.

The pair first began dating in 2016 and have since moved in together in LA, but as Troye tells Attitude’s new-look June issue – available to download and in shops now – that the pair were going strong from the get-go.

“As far as labels go, it’s pretty much since the day that I met him. We have seen each other almost every day, unless I’ve been travelling or something”, he says.

“It’s kind of like having your best friend around all the time, which is really nice. I think LA can get lonely and you sort of have to build a life for yourself.”

The My My My! singer continues: “He’s got like a kind of energy about him, a magnetic sort of energy.

“I think people can’t help but love him. He’s just got one of those personalities that draws people in.”

Admitting the couple don’t often argue and a “pretty chill” when it comes to their relationship, Troye, who unveiled brand new single ‘Bloom’ last week, says he’s uncomfortable with the flaunting his releationship in public or on social media.

“I’m still figuring it out. To be honest, this is probably the most I’ve spoken about it”, he says.

“And I think the thing that’s comforting to me, I think I’m a very private person actually. I share a lot, but the stuff that I share is always at my discretion. I don’t think we’ll ever be that couple who Instagram-story each other’s every move and have little personal jokes and stuff like that.

“People know that we’re together, people know that we’ve been together for “X” amount of time, but they don’t know anything about the ins-and-outs of our relationship: how we talk, how we communicate, and I take comfort in that.

“I don’t think I would ever want to share that.”
