An animal shelter says that the owners of a dog abandoned it because they believed it was ‘gay’.

Fezco, the dog (who looks gorgeous!) was dropped off at Stanly County Animal Protective Services (SCAPS) in Albemarle, North Carolina after apparently humping another male dog.

It’s a common behaviour among dogs, and not thought to be connected to sexuality, according to experts

The four to five-year-old pup is described by the shelter as being black and brown and weighing about 50 pounds. SCAPS says he is friendly to other animals and humans.

They’ve put out a call for people to foster Fezco while they wait for him to be properly adopted.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals about 3.3 million dogs enter animal shelters in the United States each year. Sadly, only about 2 million are actually adopted.

People who are able to adapt or foster Fezco can call SCAPS at (704) 986-3881, or visit its Facebook page.
