Watch Katy Perry’s world tour Madonna mash-up

Katy Perry kicked off her latest world tour last night (May 7) with a sold out show in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The singer will play 17 dates all over the UK this month, culminating in a four-night stint at London’s O2 Arena, before taking ‘The Prismatic World Tour’ around the world.

In advance of the tour’s opening night, Perry posted a setlist on Instagram, which suggested that the tour would feature a cover of Madonna’s deathless 1990 banger Vogue mashed up with International Smile from Perry’s latest album, Prism.

Perry did indeed “mash up” the two songs, but rather than sing an excerpt of the Madonna classic, Perry simply strutted down a catwalk into the crowd as Vogue played – flanked by dancers clad in crinolines, a nod to the Queen of Pop’s legendary performance of the song during the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards.
