McBusted: ‘We would like Charlie Simpson to return’

McBusted have revealed that they would like Charlie Simpson to be a part of their forthcoming tour.

The supergroup said that they fully understand Charlie’s reasons for pursuing his own music, rather than revisiting his Busted days.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, James Bourne said: “I understand why he left. When people say he didn’t have a great time, that’s not true.

“He was in the band for two years and the first year he was in the band he had an amazing time, and I know that because I was there. But there came to a point where I felt he felt like he wasn’t releasing the music that he was creating on his own.

“It was about him releasing the music he wanted to release. Some of my favourite songs that we released were written, he and I, but as a whole the singles we were releasing weren’t his cup of tea.”

McBusted won’t rule out the possibility of Charlie having some involvement with them in the future, saying: “We all like Charlie, we don’t have a problem with Charlie and I think we’d like him to come back. It’s up to him.”

McFly and Busted originally said that they wouldn’t release any new material, but they confirmed that they have written songs together in recent months.

Tom Fletcher revealed that one song is titled OMFG.

McBusted’s tour of the UK and Ireland kicks off in April, with a massive show in Hyde Park in July 6.
