Maynard on new album: ‘It’s Conor Maynard shirtless sexy’

Conor Maynard has revealed a few details about his upcoming second album, describing its vibe as “Conor Maynard shirtless sexy”.

The pop-R&B singer, who released his debut collection Contrast in 2012, spoke to Attitude at our 20th birthday party at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Saturday night (March 29).

“It’s very different. It’s going to put me in a very different place,” Maynard said of the new album. “It’s not going to be what it was before. I don’t think people are going to look at it and think it’s a young pop album again.”

When asked exactly how the album will be different, Maynard replied: “It’s a lot more sexy. I think it’s Conor Maynard shirtless sexy.”

The R U Crazy hit-maker also spoke about who he’s been collaborating with on the album, whose release date has yet to be announced.

“I’ve been working more with Labrinth, which was really cool,” he said. “I’ve also been writing with [hotly-tipped singer] Becky Hill, and I’ve recorded a track sent over from Timbaland.”

During the interview, Maynard went on to speak about the #cockinasock phenomenon.

“My tour manager did this. He wanted to show someone the new set-up for the stage on his phone. He opened the pictures and the first thing that opened was his version of cock in a sock,” Maynard recalled.

“Basically he’s completely naked holding a sock that goes down to the floor, kind of insinutating that he’s got a massive penis, which he definitely doesn’t.”

However, 21-year-old Maynard admitted that he is unlikely to participate in the viral charity craze himself, saying: “I need to think of a twist if I’m going to do one.”

Attitude‘s 20th birthday party took place on Saturday night (March 29) at The Grosvenor House Hotel in central London and featured exclusive performances from The Overtones and Holly Johnson, plus a DJ set from our first ever cover star, Boy George.
