Eurovision champion Conchita Wurst makes her UK chart debut on the Official Singles Chart today (May 18).

The Austrian drag queen has raced into the top 20 with her winning song Rise Like A Phoenix, which lands at number 17 on this week’s Official UK Top 40.

Rise Like A Phoenix had been on course for the top ten earlier in the week, but sales trailed off as the week went on.

Meanwhile, Dutch Eurovision duo The Common Linnets, who finished as runners-up behind Wurst, nab a top ten spot with their country-pop track Calm After The Storm, which rises 86 places to number nine this week.

The UK’s Eurovision song, Children of the Universe by Molly, climbs ten places from 33 to 23 after finishing in a disappointing 17th place in Copenhagen last Saturday (May 11). Meanwhile, Swedish Eurovision hopeful Sanna Nielsen creeps into the Top 40 at number 39 with Undo.

At the top of the Official Singles Chart, UK pop diva Rita Ora scores her fourth UK Number One with I Will Never Let You Down – matching a chart record held by Spice Girls legend Geri Halliwell.

Over on the Official Albums Chart, Michael Jackson debuts at Number One with his second posthumous effort Xscape, and rising pop starlet Foxes – real name Louisa Rose Allen – lands at number five with her debut album Glorious.
