The two-hour shows will act as an unconventional curtain-raiser to celebrate the LGMC’s involvement in this year’s London Pride Parade the following weekend, in which they are entering a colourful float.

Members of the chorus will perform a medley of hits at the Covent Garden Tesco Metro on Bedford Street from 11am to 1pm, before moving on to the Tesco Metro on 17-25 Regents Street from 3pm to 5pm. Those attending can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and some ‘Pride M+Ms’ while they watch the show.

Starting life in 1991 as nine friends singing Christmas carols, the Gay Men’s Chorus now has over 200 singing members, making them Europe’s largest and best known gay men’s choir.

Performing regularly at sell out venues such as the Southbank Centre, the group have also sung alongside the likes of Dolly Parton and Elton John, as well as appearing on television programmes such as The One Show and Children in Need.

The event will also be attended by members of the LBGT advice service, Switchboard, which Tesco are supporting this year alongside their Pride activities. Volunteers will be in store collecting money and interacting with customers to raise awareness for the charity.

“London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard is delighted to partner with Tesco for London Pride. It is an exciting time for our organisation as we prepare to rebrand and relaunch and we are thrilled that Tesco are providing us such amazing support during this time. We hope that this will be the start of a long and sustainable relationship between Switchboard and Tesco,” said a representative from Switchboard.
