Yungblud holds free livestream concert in wake of global COVID-19 cancellations

When Life Gets Weird Keep Calm and Carry On (with a free YUNGBLUD livestream concert)

By Will Stroude

Former Attitude coverstar YUNGBLUD has gone live to perform a concert in Los Angeles, live-streamed on his YouTube channel in the wake of global gig cancellations due to COVID-19.

The “Shit’s Weird Keep Calm and Carry On” livestream features YUNGBLUD performing with his full band.

But the artist is also answering questions from fans in countries where he has postponed shows due to precautions being taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

YUNGBLUD has been in the studio the last two months, and was looking forward to connecting with fans on tour this spring. But he has been forced to cancel shows in 10 countries.

“The world is in a very weird time at the moment. Everyone doesn’t know what to do or where to turn,” YUNGBLUD says.

Adding that missing out on the opportunity to interact with his fans wasn’t even an option for him:

“It’s like we are all trapped in a glass box while someone is playing a trick on us. My shows were getting cancelled left right and centre. I miss the energy. I miss the connection. I miss my fans and family.

“We need each other more than ever right now.”

While covering Attitude’s September Style issue, the singer opened up about his own sexuality and explained that it is no longer a simple box-ticking exercise.

“I am more straight,” he begins. “[But if] I walked down the street and met a fucking bloke tomorrow, or a trans person, you never know. It’s about connection. I’m very fluid about it.

“I was 16 and went to art school to get away from the north, which was very suppressive. I had the best friends in the world there, but if I wore skinny jeans and a crop top I was called a ‘poof’.

“I came to London to be liberated, to be able to paint my nails, to fucking try sex with a guy, to try everything, to fulfil my fantasies.”

You can watch the live stream concert on YUNGBLUD’s YouTube on March 16, from 2PM GMT
