Tom Daley worried for health as green Olympic Pool shut down

By Fabio Crispim

Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow won a Bronze Olympic medal in Rio earlier this week. When they won the medal the pool was blue but by Tuesday (August 9) the pool had started to turn a green colour.

The Independent reports that divers were assured that the green pool “posed no risk”. However, the pool was closed down yesterday morning (August 12) as it was still green.

Tom Daley took to Twitter to announce the news and wrote:

“Diving pool is closed this morning. Hopefully that means we haven’t been diving in anything too bad the last couple of days.”

We hope they’ll fix the green pool soon.

Rio 2016 has already seen the highest number of openly LGBT athletes competing in Olympic history, with 44 out and proud sportsmen and women representing their countries, including 10 gay men and one married couple.

Team GB proudly boasts the highest number of openly LGBT athletes of any competing nation, with eight. Check out when and where you can see them in action here.

We caught up with Tom Daley before he headed out to Rio to discuss sport, sexuality, and why he decided to have cameras capture every moment of his highly-publicsed coming out in 2013 – click here to read our interview with the young diving star in full.
