Thai transgender woman murdered with body hidden under hotel room bed

By Umar Sarwar

The body of a transgender woman was found under the bed of a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand, on Saturday.

A couple who were staying in a resort in Pattaya complained about a smell in their room, but continued to spend the night there anyway.

It was when a cleaner, went in the room and noticed the stench herself, as well as discovering blood near the bed that the body was found. The hotel quickly alerted the police of the incident.

The police identified the woman as 28-year-old Amphon Kongsong, and declared that she had been dead for three or four days.

“The hotel’s cleaner found a very strong smell in the room and tried to find the source. Then the hotel staff searched the room and found the body under the mattress,” Pattaya police chief Col Apichai Kropphet told the BBC.

Two teenagers, aged 14 and 17, have been arrested, and will be charged with murder and with concealing the body. After being questioned by investigators, the two admitted to the crime. They will be tried in a juvenile court.

According to Bangkok Post, the 17-year-old admitted to killing Amphon with the help of the 14-year-old, and alleged that it was because she had asked him for sex.

The older teen allegedly strangled the woman with the help of the younger teen who held her down.
