Teen accused of attempting to kill man he met on Grindr after sex in park

A teenager has been accused of attempting to kill a Grindr hook-up in a park.
Chad Gurney, 19, reportedly met a man from the hook-up app last year in Aylestone Leisure Centre car park in Leicester.
They then headed to a wooded area where they engaged in sexual activity, the Leicestershire Live reported.
After the sexual activity, the 19 year old pulled out a pair of scissors and stabbed the man in the neck twice, the court heard.
Gurney denied attempted to kill the man but handed himself into police on the night of the attack.
Prosecutor Nicola Moore told the court: “The complainant described the atmosphere as a little frosty as they walked back to his car.
“Without warning he felt something jab into his neck and he put his hand up, but there was no blood.
“The defendant was holding a pair of scissors and said he was sorry, but not before trying to do it again.”
At the time, Gurney reportedly told police: “It’s a really serious crime, it’s to do with attempted murder. I stabbed him in the neck with a pair of scissors, I meant to kill him, it’s intentional.”
Moore said Gurney’s two statements were contradictory and told the court: “He said that on one hand he did not intend to kill him and on the other hand he did – he was contradictory.
“He said he went in for a second stab but the man was too far away.”
Moore explained to the court that Gurney had thoughts of killing another person on a number of previous occasions.
A 2017 diary entry read: “Every day I have thoughts of killing someone. It doesn’t matter who.”
