Pope Francis has called for homosexuality priests to leave the Catholic Church.
In his new book, ‘The Strength of a Vocation’, the pontiff likened homosexuality to a modern and “fashionable” mentality and called for people with the “ingrained tendency” shouldn’t be accepted into ministry life.
He wrote: “In our societies it even seems that homosexuality is fashionable that mentality, in some way, also influences the life of the church.
“Therefore, the Church recommends that people with that kind of ingrained tendency should not be accepted into the ministry or consecrated life.”
He also called for homosexual priests to be “impeccably responsible” and to avoid “scandalising either their communities or the faithful holy people of God” after the Catholic Church was tainted by numerous sexual scandals.
The Pope continued: “It’s better for them to leave the ministry or the consecrated life rather than to live a double life.”
