Man accuses Vegas pool party of homophobia after being told his Speedo was inappropriate

Chris Donohoe posted a video on Facebook showing his discussion with the manager of the resort

A man has accused a Las Vegas pool party of homophobia after he was kicked out because of his choice of bathing suit.

In a Facebook video, Chris Donohoe was wearing a bright yellow pair of Mr Turk trunks when staff at the Encore Beach Club told him to leave claiming his swimwear wasn’t ‘in integrity’ with their brand.

While posting the video, he claimed that he was asked to leave because of his sexuality and wrote: “In other words, I was kicked out for being a gay man wearing a bathing suit that was just a little too gay for the Beach Club Encore Las Vegas to tolerate.”

When accusing the staff members of homophobia, they responded that it has nothing to do with his sexual preference but instead isn’t in line with their brand.

In an interview with PinkNews, Donohoe slammed the party’s ‘No Speedos’ rule saying it should be removed.

He said: “It’s so obviously targets LGBTQ+ and non-gender conforming people. They need to stop policing people based on their gender identity and sexuality.”

Now, Michael Weaver, the chief marketing officer of Wynn Resorts, revealed they have now changed its clothing policy following the incident.

He said: “In order to maintain a five-star experience, Wynn Las Vegas requests that guests adhere to certain dress code policies throughout the resort.

“In the Encore Beach Club, we had a policy, clearly posted at the entrance, which prohibited Speedos.

“Upon receiving a gust complaint, we reviewed the policy and have changed it.

“The new policy will allow Speedos, but will prohibit risqué and indecent swimwear for both men and women.

“We will include the new policy on entry signage, as well as the club website, in order to help guests plan appropriately and enjoy a welcoming environment.

“We apologise to the guest who was affected by our previous policy.

“Regarding LGBTQ+ guests, our policy has been clear and consistent for years: Wynn welcomes and appreciates all of our LGBTQ+ guests.

“Decisions to enforce policies are solely based on guest behaviour, or in this case, attire.

“We have always and will continue to apply attire policies equally to all of our guests, regardless of sexual orientation.”
