Lord Ivar Mountbatten finds it ‘quite odd’ having a husband.

Queen Elizabeth’s third cousin once removed made history by becoming the first member of the Royal family to openly come out and he married his partner James Coyle last year.

The couple, who announced their engagement in June after meeting in 2014, tied the knot at Bridwell Park, Devon, in front of 60 family members and friends, including Lord Mountbatten’s three daughters.

Lord Mountbatten, 55, was reportedly given away by his ex-wife Lady Penny Mountbatten, whom he divorced in 2011 after 17 years of marriage.

While no members of the core British Royal Family were present, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who are godparents to Lord Mountbatten’s eldest daughters, reportedly sent their congratulations.

And now, while speaking to Tatler magazine, Lord Mountbatten revealed he still finds it ‘quite odd’ to have a husband.

He said: “I just find it quite odd. I suppose I’m quite traditional.”

Lord Mountbatten was then asked whether he decision to come out had been good for the Royal family, to which he said they ‘don’t communicate very well’.

He continued: “Well, you would hope so! But then they don’t really talk about it. I mean, the royals, they don’t communicate very well.”
