LGBT march planned in June for D.C. Pride
Following last weekend’s Women’s March, an LGBT march has been planned for June 2017 in Washington D.C..
David Bruinooge, of Brooklyn New York for the National Pride March, created a Facebook page for the event and 15,000 people have already agreed to attend the march.
The event page reads: “We want to build off the momentum the strong women in the US and around the world started on January 21st. They set the tone with their leadership and it is our intention as a community to follow their lead and play our part. This will be an ALL inclusive and peaceful event.”
“Let’s make this truly a ‘National Pride March’ that spreads from coast to coast and shows solidarity through our Pride movement.”
According to The Blade, Bruinooge revealed that he was inspired by “all the women, the strong women in our country, who were kind of taking this to the street and getting their voices heard.”
He adds, “I thought the gay community should be doing something like this to follow up on the momentum.”
The March has been set for June 11, 2017 to coincide with Capital Pride Festival.
