Kevin Hart hits back at criticism after urging people to ‘choose love’ following racist and homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett

Kevin Hart has hit back at criticism after ‘sending prayers’ message following the racist and homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett.
Hart branded the attack on Smollett “disgusting” in a post on Instagram, urging people to “choose love”.
In his Instagram post, Hart wrote: “Sending prayers your way @jussiesmollett….This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards….this is disgusting,” the wrote alongside a picture of Smollett on Instagram.
“We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world???? Why are we falling in love with hate???? God damn it people….Choose love…I repeat…Choose love.
“I will forever choose love and I will continue to teach my kids how to do the same. Stand strong brother.”
But the comedian faced backlash online after he stepped down as host of this year’s Oscars in December following a firestorm of controversy over his past homophobic comments and ‘jokes’.
The comedian has previously appeared reluctant to acknowledge the harmful implications of his past comments, which included a tweet saying that if he caught his son playing with his daughter’s dollhouse he would “break it over his head” and say “‘stop that’s gay’.”
Now, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star – who claims the comments were 10 years ago and he has now changed – took to Twitter to retaliate against the online comments.
He wrote: “I stand with a man in his time of hurt and need by giving him heart felt support and u take the time to harp on my 10yr past that I have apologized about and moved on from by being a better person.
“Do you want change? If so I am an example of what u want people to do…CHANGE!”
