Kevin Hart’s homophobic tweets have been unsurfaced after he was announced to be hosting the Academy Awards.

The comedian was revealed to be taking over hosting duties of the prestigious film and TV awards and said it was ‘the opportunity of a lifetime’.

However, the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor now faces backlash online after a series of historic tweets have been unsurfaced where he labels people ‘gay’ or ‘f****t’ and viewers have called out for his removal from hosting duties.

In the tweets from 2009 to 2010, Hart said: “lmao, that’s why you sweat 4 know reason u fat f*g.”

And another read: “Lmao @ all of the woman asking me where the pic is, I’m not passing along a pic of a naked man!! That would make me gay by association.”

He has also been slammed for comments he made in a segment from his 2010 comedy special Seriously Funny.

Hart said: “”One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear.

“Keep in mind, I’m not homophobic, I have nothing against gay people.

“But me, being a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.

“Now with that being said, I don’t know if I handled my son’s first gay moment correctly.

“Every kid has a gay moment but when it happens, you’ve got to nip it in the bud!”
