‘I can’t approve’: Dame Judi Dench says cutting Kevin Spacey out of films is wrong
The Academy Award winning actress says Spacey is a good friend and helped her when her husband died

Dame Judi Dench doesn’t approve of cutting Kevin Spacey out of films following multiple sexual misconduct allegations.
The disgraced Academy Award winning actor was cut from Sir Ridley Scott’s latest movie All the Money in the World and was replaced by Christopher Plummer despite having already filmed all of his scenes.
He was cut from the film after multiple people – including actor Anthony Rapp – accused Spacey of sexual misconduct allegations, to which he used the allegations to reveal his sexuality, angering the LGBT community.
However, Dench – who starred alongside Spacey in The Shipping News – said Spacey comforted her on set when her husband died and said she cannot approve of cutting him out of films.
Speaking at Spain’s San Sebastien International Film Festival, Variety reported Dench said: “Kevin was an inestimable comfort and never mentioned he knew I was in a bad way.
“I can’t approve, in any way, of the fact that – whatever he has done – that you then start to cut him out of films.
“Are we to go back throughout history and anyone who has misbehaved in any way, or who has broken the law, or who has committed some kind of offence, are they always going to be cut out?
“Are we going to extrude them from our history? I don’t know about the conditions of it, but nevertheless he is, and was, a most wonderful actor.
“And a good friend. I can’t imagine what he’s doing now.”
