Hotel chain to no longer allow hate groups to host events in their establishments, says CEO
The Hyatt Hotels chain made the decision following an anti-Muslim annual conference

A hotel chain has announced they will no longer allow hate groups to host events in their establishments.
Hyatt Hotels made the decision after one of their Virginia hotels hosted an annual conference for an anti-Muslim group and now the hotel chain will no longer allow these groups to host the hate events in their buildings.
CEO Mark Hoplamazian said at the Skift Global Forum in New York: “If a group is primarily focused on disparaging a group by virtue of their identity… that’s really where we need to draw the line.”
He went on to say that inclusiveness is something that is “deeply personal” to him and clarified the anti-Muslim meeting wasn’t a common practice in the hotel chain.
Earlier in September, he met with Donald Trump to discuss making America a welcoming country for travellers and despite saying the meeting with the President was effective, there were no commitments on their plans.
He said: “The purpose of the visit was to focus on things that we’re trying to promote as an industry.
“We talked about extending a message of warm welcome to the rest of the world which we feel is critical.
“Our pitch is that that’s actually most effective when it comes from the top. We didn’t get any commitments on that but we think we made our case.
“We were able to get a commitment to go back and look at policies in place that could expand the freedom to travel.”
