Emma Thompson joins the cast of Russell T Davies’ new drama ‘Years & Years’

The new show follows the Lyons family as their lives converge on one night

Emma Thompson has joined the cast of Russell T Davies new BBC drama Years & Years.

The two-time Academy Award winner has joined the likes of Russell Tovey, Jessica Hynes, Ruth Madeley, Anne Reid, Rory Kinnear and T’Nia Miller in the new programme by the Queer as Folk creator.

Years & Years follows the Lyons family as their complex lives converge on one crucial night in 2019 and over the next 15 years, the twists and turns of everyday life are explored and we find out whether this family could change the world.

Davies said: “This is a dream cast, put together by Andy Pryor, the man who found Jodie Whittaker to be Doctor Who.

“I’m very lucky, and very excited to start filming.”
