Donald Trump blames the cost of drugs for the transgender military ban
The US President claimed soldiers are not allowed to take any drugs, including paracetamol

Donald Trump has claimed the reason behind his transgender military ban was because of the cost of drugs.
The bigoted President of the United States revealed in a Twitter post back in July 2017 he planned on banning 15,000 transgender military men and women and although federal judges blocked his plan, the case was back in court this year.
In April this year, the transgender military ban came into affect and it ruled that transgender people in the military will have to present as their sex assigned at birth and they can be discharged if they are ‘unable or unwilling to adhere to all applicable standards, including standards associated with his or her biological sex, or seeks transition to another gender.”
But now, during his state visit to the UK, the president met with his close friend Piers Morgan where he claimed that the cost of the drugs was one of the reasons why he initiated the ban.
He said: “They [trans people] take massive amounts of drugs, they have to, and you’re not allowed to take drugs. You’re in the military.”
But Morgan went on to say that the US military pays for medical costs for troops including drugs such as viagra – although Trump claiming he didn’t know about that.
He said: “The U.S. military spends a lot more money, for example, on giving Viagra to servicemen and women, or servicemen, than it does on actual medical bills of transgender people.
“It seems to me an unnecessary thing for a guy who wants to be supportive of LGBT rights and the community around the world to take this action you’ve taken.”
But Trump defended his ban and said the ‘recovery period’ is long and praised those who had won gallantry awards but said he doesn’t really care.
“It is what it is,” he said. “Also, people going in and asking for the operation, you know the operation is $200,000, $250,000, and getting the operation, the recovery period is long and they have to take large amounts of drugs after that for whatever reason.
“I’m proud of them. I think it’s great. But you have to have a standard and you have to stick by that standard.
“We have a great military and I want to keep it that way. Maybe they’d be phenomenal. I think they probably would be.
“But again, you have very strict rules and regulations and prescription drugs and all of these different things and they blow it out of the water.”
