David Cameron has shared his views on public displays of affection between gay couples.

During an appearance on Newsnight earlier this week (September 30), the Prime Minister was asked by the show’s new host, Evan Davis, whether he would be comfortable seeing two men kissing in front of him in a public place.

“OK, you’re in a public park – two men, recently married, are kissing each other. Is that sweet? Or is that mildly inappropriate?” Davis asked the Conservative PM.

“That’s fine,” replied Cameron. “I’ve been very clear about this – this is where I do ‘marry’ traditional and modern values. I believe in the family, I believe in marriage, and I think it’s such a great institution… I think men should be able to marry each other and women should be able to marry each other.”

“If I can kiss my wife in public, I don’t see why you can’t kiss your husband in public,” he added.
