Darren Kennedy on Irish marriage equality: ‘It’s about the right to equal love’

Irish TV presenter and writer Darren Kennedy is the latest public figure to throw his weight behind the ‘Yes’ campaign for the upcoming Irish Marriage Equality referendum.

Kennedy, himself gay, says in a video message that he doesn’t usually comment on political events, but feels so strongly about the referendum he felt compelled to speak out.

“It’s one of the most important political chapters of our generation,” he says. “It’s about love, and it’s about the right to equal love.”

Darren, whose work as a TV presenter has seen him appear on BBC, ITV and Channel 5, also made the hit 2013 documentary Gay Daddy, detailing his quest to become a father.
