‘Dancing On Ice’s first ever same-sex dance attracts just 16 complaints

Just 16 people complained about Dancing on Ice’s history making same-sex dance routine.
Over the weekend, Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Matt Evers made history as the first ever same-sex dance couple on the ITV show, just weeks after Strictly Come Dancing’s first full-length same-sex dance between two professional dancers prompted just under 200 complaints to Ofcom.
Ian and Matt’s was widely praised by fans and judges – leaving John Barrowman in floods of tears.
When speaking to the couple, Barrowman – who is married to Scott Gill – said: “Seeing two men who represent me has affected me on so many levels.
“I’m overwhelmed. I’m almost speechless. It’s wonderful.”
Following the history making dance, H took to Twitter to thank everyone for ‘messages of love and support’.
He wrote: “WE DID IT!!!!!!! THANKYOU EVERYONE for your messages of love and support!
“I’m totally gobsmacked! But tonights skate was bigger than Matt & I… it was a message of equality and inclusion! Let it resound across the world!”

But of course, a tiny minority of homophobes complained about the same-sex dance because, obviously, two men cannot possibly dance together.
And now the Metro reports that only 16 viewers complained to Ofcom about the dance with the broadcasting regulator saying: “The selection and pairing of contestants is an editorial matter for ITV.
“Our rules do not discriminate between opposite-sex and same-sex couples.”
