Aussie I’m A Celeb star says gay people are ‘confusing to society’ and will ‘face the consequences’
The Australian boxer made the comments before joining the cast of the reality show
One of the stars of Australian I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here believes gay people are “confusing to society”.
Anthony Mundine made the comments during an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald shortly before he joined the reality TV show yesterday (January 29).
Speaking to the publication, the Australian boxer said: “My biggest fear is Allah and if Allah prohibts it, then it’s wrong.”
He continued: “I was always taught that two genders together is natural; it’s what’s meant to be. Male and male, or female and female, is just confusing to society.”
Mundine, who converted to Islam in 1999, then revealed he has gay friends and has no problem with them but frequently reminds them of the “consequences”.
He said: “That’s their prerogative, all I can do is warn them. I always tell my gay friend: ‘You’ve got to find a lady… God will judge you, not me.'”
He also claimed that the media have made him “out to be a villain”.
He said: “People mistake my confidence for arrogance. I’m actually quite a shy, humble person. I treat people the way I want to be treated, and I hope Australians get to see that side of me in the jungle.”
This wasn’t the first time the boxer shared his anti-gay views. Back in 2013, he claimed that homosexuality isn’t compatible with Aboriginal Australian culture.
He also attacked the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for “promoting” homosexuality after watching an ABC program that featured indigenous same-sex couples looking to have children.
Taking to Facebook to express his disappointment, he wrote: “Watching redfern now & they promoting homosexuality! (Like it’s ok in our culture) that ain’t in our culture & our ancestorts would have there head for it! Like my dad told me GOD made ADAM & EVE not Adam & Steve.”
