‘I love president Trump’: Caitlyn Jenner backs Donald Trump despite anti-trans passport policy
The former athlete says the US leader's executive order on gender markers has left her unable to travel internationally, but she's still not withdrawing her support

Caitlyn Jenner has affirmed her support for Donald Trump despite admitting she has faced challenges renewing her US passport amid the government’s gender marker policy.
As of early 2025, during his second tenure in the White House, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology”, ruling that America only recognises two genders, male and female, defined by a person’s biological sex assigned at birth.
This reversed former president Joe Biden‘s 2022 policy allowing self-selected gender markers, including the “X” (non-binary) option on federal documents.
“Screws everything up – Caitlyn Jenner on having gender marker ‘M’ on her passport
Speaking on the Tomi Lahren Is Fearless podcast earlier this month, Jenner made a plea to Trump. She revealed despite trying several different avenues for her passport to be returned with a female gender marker, the document labelled her male.
“I love President Trump. And I think he signed this executive order… I don’t know who underneath him was putting this thing together – that all federal documents, it has to be your biological sex at birth,” said the former Olympian.
Jenner explained: “Recently I had my passport, I had to get it renewed. I sent it back. [It] comes back, gender marker ‘M.’ Screws everything up.”
“I don’t blame president Trump” – Jenner on struggles renewing her passport as a trans woman
“This is a safety factor, ok? I can’t travel internationally anymore… I don’t blame President Trump – I love him. But for a lot of people this is a huge issue,” said the Kardashian family member.
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen because I don’t think this was really thought out, what this means – not just for the males-to-females.”
Jenner said she left a note for Trump with his Secret Service, highlighting the challenges the policy could cause for trans and non-binary people across the US.
“This is the biggest ‘foot in the mouth’ we could ever see” – one online user questioning Jenner over her support for Donald Trump
Many in the comments slammed the former athlete for her ongoing support for the president.
“Omg now it’s affecting you! Everyone should be concerned now,” wrote one person. “This is the biggest ‘foot in the mouth’ we could ever see,” penned another.
This is not the first time Jenner has expressed her support for the Republican president, having previously aligned herself with MAGA in 2016 – admitting she voted for Trump.
However, Jenner, who came out as transgender in 2015, later toned down her praise following Trump’s 2017 social media announcement banning transgender people from serving in the US military.
Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer revealed in 2025 that her passport now lists the incorrect gender, following the introduction of Trump’s policy. Drag Race star Aja also reported that the gender on her passport was changed from female to male when she submitted for a replacement last year.
