Luxurious hospitality brand Belmond to host exclusive weekend for LGBT families

The hotel and leisure company are proactive in the LGBT community

By Steve Brown

Luxurious holiday company Belmond are organising an LGBT-exclusive weekend in Mexico after seeing a rise of LGBT families going abroad.

The hotel and leisure company is proactive in the LGBT+ community and for one weekend they are offering a chance for families to enjoy a relaxing holiday without any judgment from fellow guests.

Elio Lopez, Belmond’s director of LGBT sales, told Attitude: “The commitment to diversity across the entire Belmond portfolio of properties is absolute, ours are safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces.

“But we’ve seen that more and more LGBT+ guests are now travelling with families, and the Belmond Maroma Resort on Mexico’s glorious Riviera Maya is at the head of that curve.

“So we’ve chosen to put together a special package on July 26 – 29, 2018 to encourage those families to come and stay together and play together.

“We think it’s a strong message to send to our customer base and an attractive offer in its own right.”

The planned a three-night/four-day hotel exclusively for LGBT+ families is filled with organised activities, sails around the Caribbean Sea and even cooking classes.

Set among 200 acres of landscaped gardens, the intimate 63-room resort welcomes families all year round, but for one special weekend throughout July (26-29), the resort will be opening its doors for LGBT-families.

With connecting rooms, a family pool surrounded by lush tropical palms, a children’s menu and spa treatments for all the family, it’s a holiday not to be missed.

For just $880 US Dollar per night, the price includes accommodation in one of the suites – which can accommodate two adults and two under-12 children – and a daily a-la-carte breakfast at El Restaurante, doesn’t sound too unreasonable.

Complimentary dining for up to two children under 12 and a family picnic on the beach as well as movies and popcorn nights are also included.

Guests will be able to enjoy a one-hour accompanied bike tour through the Mayan jungle and a bonfire and tales evening.

There is also a chance to enhance your experience with an added extra onto the payment.

For just $60 per family per hour, guests can sail along the Caribbean Sea on a hobie cat or take part in a master cooking class for just $45 per person.

If you are looking to treat your family, for $150 – for one parent and one kid – you can book a spa pampering session.
