Stranger Things star Joe Keery reveals bisexual crushes as he sends fans into a frenzy

Joe Keery revealed his cartoon crushes, including both Robin Hood and Maid Marian, while promoting the final season of Stranger Things, sending fans into a bisexual frenzy.
During a Hits Radio interview, Keery and his co-stars Jamie Campbell Bower and Natalia Dyer compared childhood crushes ahead of the show’s Netflix release on 26 November 2025.
The cast discussed fan edits of on-screen characters before leaning into their own childhood crushes. “Did you guys ever watch the animated Robin Hood?” Keery asked.

Dyer replied, “The fox?” to which Keery said, “Yes, both of them,” referring to Robin Hood (male) and Maid Marian (female) in the Disney film.

Keery also admitted to liking Lola Bunny from Space Jam. Dyer responded by revealing her crush on a male Yu-Gi-Oh!character (“hot pharaoh”), while Bower shared that he had crushes on multiple characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The conversation led fans to speculate about the cast’s sexuality, saying that the Stranger Things cast exudes “bisexual energy.”

One fan wrote on X, “Just four bisexuals trying so hard to not say the cast of The Mummy.” Another asked, “Did Joe Keery just come out as bisexual on my timeline?”
Queer fans love the LGBTQ+ elements of Stranger Things, a fan favorite being the ship between Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, who is gay, and Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard.
Schnapp publicly came out as gay on 5 January 2023 via a TikTok video with the text: “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared … for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know.’”
Keery has only ever been in public relationships with women
He captioned the video: “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”
Keery, who plays Steve Harrington in Stranger Things, has only ever publicly dated women. His most public and long-term relationship was with actress Maika Monroe from 2017 to 2022.
