University hockey team strip off to fight homophobia
By Josh Haggis
The University of Nottingham’s mens hockey team have stripped off to help fight homophobia in sport.
Voice Your Rights Project – student-led group behind the video – have explained that their goal for the cheeky clip is to help gay people be respected and treated equally in sport.
“We constantly see in the media and press athletes from all sort of sports coming out,” a spokesperson told Mic. “Most of those stories share the same lines: ‘We were scared to come out’, ‘we fear the reactions of our team members, the fans, the press, the sponsors’ etc. Well I thought that this needs to change.”
